Baker Woods Nature Preserve

Coldwater, Ohio
Saturday, April 27, 2013
Total distance - .41

This trail was technically closed due to flooded trails but we walked back as far as we could before turning around and coming back out. Saw lots of deer tracks down the path. This would be a great woods to hike on a much drier day.

Fort Amanda State Park Trail

Fort Amanda, Ohio
Saturday, April 27, 2013
Total distance - .28 miles

Very short trail through the woods beside the cemetery. Saw a snake quite a bit larger than last weekends snake.

Fort Amanda Cemetery / Memorial

Fort Amanda, Ohio
Saturday, April 27, 2013
Total distance - .60 miles

Found this just by looking at my Google Map. Nice park commemorating the fort and the soldiers of the War of 1812. Nice short walk through the Cemetery back to the Memorial.

Kendrick Woods West Trail

West Trail
Allentown, Ohio

Total distance - 1.43 miles

So this trail begins on the boardwalk All People's Trail we walked last weekend but then continues into the woods and around. Still quite wet muddy and squishy. Sun was shining and it was a nice day.

Kendrick Woods South Trail

Kendrick Woods State Nature Preserve
South Trail
Allentown, Ohio
Saturday, April 27, 2013
Total distance - 1.73 miles

Went back to this park hoping the trails would be a lot drier than last weekend. Probably less than half was still pretty wet and muddy. Shoes got pretty muddy but socks stayed dry. This trail takes you along the river and right past a natural sulphur spring bubbling out and flowing directly into the river. Yes it stunk. Saw lots of deer hoof prints along the trail in the soft mud but no deer.

Kendrick Woods Boardwalk

Kendrick Woods State Nature Preserve
All People's Trail
Allentown, Ohio
Between Lima and Van Wert
Sunday, April 21, 2013
Total distance - 0.49 miles

I found this Nature Preserve/Park on the Internet after one of Rich's coworkers recommended it. Very nice park and facility. It is still too wet and chilly. We took daughter Dayna and grandson Kaden with us. We just did the short paved boardwalk today because the trails were too wet and muddy and also because Kaden was coughing too much. We will be back as soon as it warms up and dries up. If you look close at the last picture we spotted a small snake.

Anna Brand Hammer Nature Preserve

Uniondale, Indiana
Saturday, April 20, 2013
Total distance - .72 miles

Uniondale is 15 miles west of Decatur on 224. Found this trail also on the Indiana Nature Preserves website. It was wet squishy and muddy. This is a 14 acre woods with a decent marked path. Enjoyed walking through it.

Baltzell-Lenhart Woods Nature Preserve

Decatur, Indiana
Saturday, April 20, 2013
Total distance - 1.01 miles

Found this small nature preserve by searching the Internet. It's only 3.5 miles south of Decatur. There is just something so refreshing and relaxing about walking through woods undisturbed by man. Listening to the little chipmunks , squirrels and rabbits scurry around, and hearing all the birds. Yes it was chilly, squishy, muddy, wet and cloudy. But it was fun and I loved it.

Beechwood Nature Preserve

Beechwood Nature Preserve Trail
Angola, Indiana

Total distance - 1.04 miles

This trail is just outside of Pokagon State Park.  Drive out of the entrance to Pokagon State Park (SR 727) and turn left on SR 127. After passing CR 500N, you will come to Lane 150 - Little Otter Lake. The ACRES parking lot is here by the intersection on your left.  This is a loop trail that is very hilly and strenuous. This was our last hike of the day.

Moderate trail through Potawatomi Nature Preserve. This trail takes you to Hell's Point, the highest point in the park with an awesome overlook and a wonderful view. Heard owls and woodpeckers.
