Hiked .98 miles around the old Willshire Quarry in Willshire, Ohio. 

If I have learned anything about hiking it is to always watch where you are going. I almost stepped on a snake!

But you just never know how beautiful it is right near your own town.

Trail 5 all the way around the Park. It's just amazing to me how truly beautiful it is in the woods. It feels like you step into another world and leave the stresses of life behind.

I'm a little ashamed of how short of a walk this was. I wanted to explore all of the trails while we were there but we went late evening and the Mosquitos were awful. Will definitely go back another day to finish.

Total distance hiked - 3.66 miles

This was just a short drive from where our son lives. This day was hot and buggy but I loved the walk along the Cooper River. Partly wet marsh and part trails. Good hiking condition other than a few more signs needed to follow the trail.

We went to visit our oldest son Brad and his wife Megan for vacation. He is in the Navy and currently lives only 10 minutes from Cypress Gardens. It was hot and a bit muggy and buggy at the end of July, but not just too miserable. It was only $10 per person and self rowing the boats was free. I was a bit disappointed we didn't see more alligators but they said it was too hot for them to be out. We did not walk every single path, but took the main outside paths all the way around.

This trail was technically closed due to flooded trails but we walked back as far as we could before turning around and coming back out. Saw lots of deer tracks down the path. This would be a great woods to hike on a much drier day.
